WMATA has announced the start of SafeTrack Surge #5. According to the notice, this stage will result in around-the-clock single tracking between East Falls Church and Ballston stations through July 31, 2016. Already, there has been a replacement of nearly 2,000 deteriorated wooden rail ties and renewal of 3,100 linear feet of rail infrastructure completed in the same segment of the Orange and Silver lines during surge #1, on the opposite track.     Tree Planting Field Trip Casey Trees is offering a great opportunity for volunteers to get out of the city for the day while also helping to plant seedlings that will eventually be used throughout DC to help beautify our city spaces. On Saturday, September 17th, volunteers will head out to the Casey Trees Farm in Berryville, VA for the day, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, where they will work in teams of two to plant seedlings for replanting in the future.
